Helicopter Spins Wildly into Palm Fronds at Popular Southern California Beach
A chopper flying near a crowded coastal shoreline abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually descending rapidly and smashing into a cluster of palm groves as onlookers looked on.
Videos shared on social media depict the chopper starting to spin near the beach then falling in the direction of the edge of the shore, where it ends up lodged among palms and a set of stairs close to the shoreline route.
Emergency Response Details
Local firefighters reported five persons were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” following the accident on Saturday.
Three persons on the road were injured. Details on their wounds were still under review.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
